Garrick Club

The Garrick Club was once renowned as the dirtiest building in London. Following a condition report that identified extensive cracking of the rendered front elevation, the Club agreed to implement comprehensive cleaning and repair to the elevation.

There are now subtly different colours to the surviving plain render, the precast decorative enrichments, and the new render applied over the cracks in the piano nobile, revealing the full splendour of the Italianate Palazzo designed by Marrable in 1862.

Marable’s original watercolour view shows incised masonry block lines in the render, albeit not implemented – until now, when we cut them into the new render to control cracking, to restore Marable’s original intentions.
